Our Policy & Procedures task force met recently and upon reviewing this document we discovered a few discrepancies within the bylaws.
The proposed changes to the Association Bylaws are hereby presented to you for your review. These changes will be discussed and voted on during the General Membership Meeting held Wednesday, August 19th, 2015 at the Cherokee Conference Center.
Any discussion on the proposed bylaws will take place at this meeting and will be passed by a majority vote of member attendees. This is per our current bylaws ARTICLE XVI, Section 1.
Amendment to Change the Cherokee Association of Realtors Bylaws.
In regards to the bylaws as last revised May 20, 2015, the following changes have been approved by the CAOR Board of Directors as of August 4, 2015.
Article XI-Officers and Directors-
The following verbiage has been changed in Section 1. Officers: The elected officers of the Association shall be a President, a President Elect Public Services, an Immediate Past President, a Vice President of Member Services, a Vice President of Government Services, a Secretary/Treasurer and a Treasurer Elect. They shall be elected for terms of one year. The office of the President Elect Public Services shall automatically advance to the office of President; the office of President will automatically succeed to that of a state director and hold the title of Past President. All terms shall be one year. (Previous Bylaws referred to the Vice President of Member Services and the Vice President of Government Services as the First Vice President of Member Services and the Second Vice President of Government Services. The previous Bylaws also did not include the Immediate Past President or Treasurer Elect).
Article XI-Officers and Directors-
The following verbiage has been changed in Section 3. Board of Directors: The governing body of the Association shall be a Board of Directors consisting of the elected officers, the Immediate Past President of the Association and a number of REALTOR® members of the Association determined by membership counts in July of the previous year. Directors shall be elected to serve for no more than three consecutive two year terms. Thereafter, as many directors shall be elected each year as are required to fill vacancies. (Amended 1/05) (Previous Bylaws stated that the governing body of the association would include 13 elected REALTOR® members of the association).
